Daryn Pittman made the most of a rain out, as the World of Outlaw star changed his initial plans for the night and headed towards southeastern Iowa's 34 Raceway which was hosting the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series. Thirty-five cars, including six World of Outlaw regulars tackled the well manicured venue in IRA's first ever sanctioned event on the banked three-eighths. Pittman made his decision payoff as he claimed the win in the ultra-exciting 30 lap headliner in front of an enthusiastic crowd. Pittman piloted his familiar Titan Garage #21 to a clean sweep over a very solid field. Press Release (05-13-08)
On a chilly Saturday night, the racing was hot as Charter Raceway Park opened its regular five division schedule. Although rain shortened the night’s events, the fans were treated to some great racing. The Street Stocks started the night’s A-Mains off with Jesse Kanas taking the top spot at the drop of the green. Jon Schultz and Jerry Kope held down the second and third spots respectively as they worked the inside to try and get past Kanas. They were unsuccessful until lap number eight when they were both able to get past Kanas dropping him to third. That’s the way they would finish with Andrew Araco and Jerry Winkler rounding out the top five. Press Release (05-13-08)

Press Release (05-5-08)
Opening night at Charter Raceway Park was chilly but the racing was red hot as the Badger Midget Series and the Interstate Racing Association sprint cars took to the 1/3 mile oval. In the headline event for the IRA cars, the action got off to a rough start with Tommy Sexton flipping his 83D machine going into turn number one just after completing lap number 1. Sexton was ok but was obviously done for the night. On the restart, King was able to get a great jump and worked past Goeden. But following another yellow on lap 19, King coasted to the infield with a report of being out of gas giving the lead back to Goeden. Following a red flag incident on lap 25, Goeden went on to the win followed by Steve Meyer and Scotty Neitzel. Press Release (05-5-08)

Lowell Bennett would never brag about this, but it's true. He is the sort of racer who provides a connection to a simpler day a generation or two ago, before NASCAR and video games took over the world, when high school sweethearts would rather snuggle on the Slinger Speedway bleachers than spend the night sending texts and instant messages. He and men like him make up the backbone of short-track stock-car racing in southeastern Wisconsin. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (05-8-08)

The parts supplier and dealership inked a deal for title sponsorship of an eight-race stock car series at tracks in Wisconsin and Illinois this year. "I can't expect the racers to buy parts from us if we're not involved in (racing) sponsorship somehow," said Chris Slack, parts manager at Gandrud. "We would still sell parts if we weren't sponsoring the races, but we just help each other out." Green Bay Press Gazette (05-7-08)

Hearing Dave Feiler and the #96 team will skip this weekend's ASA Midwest Tour race at Jefferson Speedway. The team failed to make the season opening race at Elko Speedway and had to run the last chance race at Madison to make the feature. No word on what the teams plans will be for the rest of the season. (05-14-08) UPDATE: Jordan Thiel's father purchased Frank Kreyer's hauler which will haul 2 cars, Feilers and Thiels. No matter if you are traveling east or west on Hwy 18 between Jefferson and Cambridge, you will see it. And if you travel on that road on a Saturday night during the summer, the darkness is illuminated by the lights and a full parking lot. It’s Jefferson Speedway, a quiet success in American short track racing. This Saturday night, the ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment will make their second visit to the 56 year old facility with the running of the Kwik Trip Stores 100. For many fans and competitors, including this writer, it’s a return to the track where our love of racing started. Press Release (05-16-08)
The spirit of competition that is shown at every ASAMT event, is nothing close when comparing the competition shown by the athletes competing in Special Olympic events. The ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment along with its title sponsor, Kwik Trip Stores, continues to show their support with this great organization in 2008. Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI) is a statewide organization providing persons with cognitive disabilities year-round sports training and competition. Jefferson Speedway, well known as Wisconsin’s Action Track, will host the third event of the 2008 season for the ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment. The Kwik Trip Stores 100 will highlight the evening’s race activities. Last year, Nathan Haseleu, the defending ASAMT champion, picked up his only win so far in the series 13 events. Haseleu, who started his racing career at Jefferson, is looking forward to returning and defending his win. “I always enjoyed racing there; it’s a small track for super late models to race on,” Haseleu stated. “It’s a little bullring and I think it was repaved a few years ago, so it has good traction. I love going there, it brings back a lot of memories and I look forward to it.” Press Release (05-13-08)
Four rookies took on the challenge of Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile oval this past Sunday with the running of the ECHO Chainsaw 100. It was an up and down day, but overall a great learning experience as the drivers continue towards the Lane Automotive ASAMT Rookie of the Year presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil and Hyperco. Press Release (05-9-08)
The ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment would not be successful without the help of our marketing partners and sponsors. Last Sunday’s ECHO Chainsaw 100 had 48 competitors on hand with a majority, again, taking home contingency bonus(s). In order to receive the awards, the driver must be a full ASA member and their teams must satisfy all manufacturers’ requirements (decals, patches and post race interview criteria.) The awards listed for each driver is on top of the event purse payout they received. Press Release (05-8-08)
Back in January, Dan Fredrickson made this statement, “Going into this season, if we get a good start and have a good time at what we are doing, we will make a run for the points.” After two events, its safe to say that he is on track as he holds a 62-point lead over Josh Vadnais after two events. Fredrickson picked up his fourth ASAMT win this past Sunday in the ECHO Chainsaw 100 at Madison International Speedway. This was a great follow-up to his second place finish at the opening event at Elko Speedway back in April. Press Release (05-7-08)
Big 8 Series Point Standings as of 5/5/2008 (05-5-08)
Dan Fredrickson will admit that he never had a good run at Madison International Speedway. After tonight, Madison is one of his favorite tracks as he captured the ASAMT ECHO Chainsaw 100 in front of a large crowd. “I haven’t won here and never been real good here, but had a pretty sweet car here tonight,” a happy Fredrickson stated in victory lane. “I hope we can keep going with this, it was cool to beat Carlson and Busch. And now Madison is one of my favorite tracks.” Press Release (05-5-08)
Jeremy Miller and Michael Bilderback got the large crowd on hand at Madison International Speedway on their feet as the two put on a classic short track battle in the Big 8 Series presented by Gandrud Chevrolet feature event. At the checkers, it was the defending champion holding off the young pilot. Bilderback led most of the 38-lap event, while Miller made a hard charge at the end. "I kinda used Mikey up there. He was pinching me on the bottom and I got a better run than him and he was slowing up, so I gave him a little nudge just to move him back where he belonged. It was a racing thing," Miller described his last lap move as the two came out of turn two. Press Release (05-5-08)
